Since 2012, I’ve photographed thousands of incredible families and businesses across Austin and beyond. Whether I’m documenting snuggly newborns at home, capturing candid family chaos, or helping brands visually tell their story, my goal is always the same: to reflect the beauty, personality, and connection that already exists in your life or work.

This newborn session was casual, unrushed, and completely true to who this family is. Mom and dad were clear from the start that they wanted photos that felt like them. Not posed, not overly styled, and definitely not an internet version of their life.
My favorite part of the session was spending time in their music room. Instead of directing or posing, I stepped back and let them do their thing. Singing, playing, holding their new baby, and settling into this next chapter together.
Those moments are always the ones that matter most.

There is something incredibly special about documenting newborn life at home. For Baby S and her parents, their Austin home became the perfect backdrop for these first days together. Familiar, meaningful, and full of intention.
The music room naturally became the heart of the session. Soft singing, gentle melodies, quiet moments of connection. Nothing forced. Nothing rushed. Just real life with a brand new baby.

Your home already holds so much meaning. The nursery you prepared, the living room where you will spend long days together, the bedroom where middle of the night feedings happen. These spaces are part of your story.
In-home newborn photos allow your images to feel personal and grounded, not generic.

Staying home with a newborn makes everything easier.
Comfort changes the energy of a session, and it always shows in the photos.
In-home sessions move at your baby’s pace. We pause for feedings, diaper changes, or simply soaking in the moment. There is no pressure to perform or follow a rigid timeline.
Some of the most meaningful images come from those in between moments.

This is one of the most common questions I get. I recommend reaching out during your second trimester to secure a spot on my calendar. This allows flexibility once your baby arrives while ensuring you are taken care of. Click here for timing recommendations.
Natural light is always my priority. Before your session, notice which rooms get soft, even light during the day. In many Austin homes, north facing windows provide the most consistent light.
Do not overthink it. I will help guide this when I arrive.
You do not need to deep clean your house. We typically focus on just two or three spaces, such as:
Less space, more ease.
Newborn sessions typically last 1.5-2 hours, allowing time for feeding, soothing, and breaks as needed.
Helpful things to have nearby:
Your home does not need to be styled or trendy. Whether you are in a cozy Clarksville bungalow or a bright and airy home in Mueller, those details add personality and depth to your photos.
Real always wins.
Babies run the show, and that is exactly how it should be. Some of the sweetest moments come from the unexpected. A stretch, a yawn, or a sleepy milk smile.
There is no such thing as off script here.

Baby S’s session was a perfect reminder of why home is such a beautiful place for newborn photos. We moved gently from room to room, following the light and the family’s rhythm.
In the music room, dad played guitar while mom held Baby S close, singing softly. These were not posed moments. They were real glimpses of their everyday life together.
The primary bedroom gave us space for slow, cozy family cuddles. The nursery, filled with personal details, quietly told the story of how long they had been waiting for this little one.

The ideal window is within the first two weeks after birth, when babies tend to be sleepier. That said, beautiful sessions happen at every stage, so please do not stress if you are outside that window.
Neutral, solid colors photograph beautifully. Try to avoid loud patterns or logos. Most importantly, wear something comfortable that feels like you.
Not at all. A nursery can be lovely, but it is not required. We will work with whatever spaces feel right in your home.
Your home does not need to look like a magazine. I will find the best light and simplest backgrounds. Small adjustments are easy if needed.
Awake babies are wonderful too. Alert eyes, stretches, and expressions are just as meaningful.

If you are expecting or have recently welcomed your baby home, I would love to help document this season in a way that feels honest and true to your family.
Every home tells a story. Adding a new baby to that story is always worth remembering.
