I can’t with Baby P. His many expressions (scroll down and enjoy), those sweet, happy cheeks, his tiny denim overalls…it just melts me. He is as perfect as they come. I really enjoyed this session. The whole P family was a dream to spend time with!

Prepping For A Lifestyle Newborn or Family Session

So, you just booked a lifestyle session with me and you’re wondering what you should do before I head your way. Don’t worry – I’ve got you covered with a few tips:

• Have a few ideas on hand for some images you’d like to have done. This can be a favorite family activity or hobby – for example, playing board games, baking cupcakes, general play, etc. Often times, sessions will flow into what just comes natural as a family, so we get to capture those authentic, candid shots we love! Likewise, newborn sessions tend to flow with your child’s needs. So many of the best images come from the authentic moments – the tired eyes, the cuddles, and even those sad faces and feeding time!

• Also, pick a few spaces in your home that you’d like to have your photos in. This can include the porch, the backyard, the kitchen, etc. Remember, the best lighting is natural light, so, keep that in mind when picking your spots. However, we can always adjust when the time comes. I am a photographer, after all, and we are known to work some magic with lighting!

• What should you wear?
  • First, comfort is key. 
  • Second, it really is your choice. Depending on the type of photos you’d like to have done, wear what makes you happy. Some people want truly authentic, so coordination isn’t important. It can be a mish-mash of styles, colors, patterns, etc. Just keep in mind that if your decor is busy and colorful and so are your outfits, you may blend in with your background. And, there’s nothing wrong with that if that’s your vibe. 
  • If you love that natural, clean look, coordinating with soft muted tones is always a win. Beiges, whites, creams, any soft color palette is great! It helps in making photos feel bright and airy.
  • If your decor is neutral, try going with pops of color in your outfits. Color is always great!
